The festive season is a time of warmth, togetherness, and celebration. It's also the perfect time to infuse your home with a touch of festive decor.
However, as we become increasingly conscious of our impact on the environment, many people are seeking sustainable ways to decorate their homes during the holidays. In this blog post, i'll give you three creative and eco-friendly ways to decorate your home with thoughtful and sustainable holiday decor. And of course, infusing some vintage spirit into your aesthetic! We'll cover the art of creating dried hydrangea floral wreaths, using artisanal candles to light up your space, and repurposing French brocante items like mini soupieres for planters and candleholders.
Dried Hydrangea Floral Wreaths
When it comes to sustainable holiday decor, creating dried hydrangea floral wreaths is not only beautiful but also eco-friendly. These wreaths are perfect for adding a touch of natural elegance to your home. Here's how to make one:
Start by collecting dried hydrangea heads. I had permission to forage some from my lovely neighbours who needed to prune it this year! You can easily dry them by hanging them upside down in a dark, well-ventilated area for a few weeks. Gather some grapevine wreath bases (I like the ones you can buy at Hobbycraft) and attach the dried hydrangea blooms to the grapevine wreath using floral wire. Customise your wreath with sustainable accents like pinecones, acorns, or other natural elements and make a matching ribbin loop tie.
These are best for indoor use, so try hanging them from bedroom doors, or off the edge of paintings or mirrors for a casual, beautiful rustic floral feel to your seasonal home decor.
I've created a few limited editions of these beautiful dried hydrangea floral wreaths for the Considered Living store, in lovely shades of red and pink.
Shop them here or ask to be added to the waiting list once we've sold out!
